Whole School Curriculum

At Trinity Oaks, our curriculum is carefully designed to be interlinked, meaningful and rich in context. Each subject connects thoughtfully with others, enabling pupils to deepen their understanding and make purposeful links in their learning.

We place a strong emphasis on developing communication and language. Through exposure to high-quality texts, ambitious vocabulary and purposeful discussion, pupils are supported to articulate their ideas clearly and confidently.

In the early years and Key Stage 1, we prioritise the development of strong foundational skills. We ensure that every child builds secure knowledge in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside the social and communication skills they need to thrive. This provides a firm platform as they move through the school and prepare for their next steps.

Our curriculum is designed to engage and inspire. Lessons are planned to capture pupils’ interests while maintaining high expectations for all. We believe that every child can achieve highly, and we are committed to ensuring that outcomes reflect this ambition.

At Trinity Oaks, we are proud of a curriculum that not only equips pupils with essential knowledge and skills, but also fosters curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

We place relationships at the heart of everything we do and every child is recognised as a unique individual and is provided with equitable, first-hand learning experiences, which help underpin the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts, values, and attitudes. Every child is provided with an ambitious and challenging curriculum suited to their individual needs.

The intent of the curriculum at Trinity Oaks C of E Primary school is to provide relevant and ‘stickable’ linked learning opportunities where pupils are excited and engaged in authentic learning experiences, within a flexible timetable. Core and foundation subjects are mapped and interlinked to provide immersive learning opportunities across curriculum areas, building upon prior skills and knowledge. Therefore, they are not afraid to make mistakes and learn from being ‘in the pit’, building resilience and developing creative and critical thinking. We have high aspirations for our children with expected outcomes in line with or higher than Surrey average attainment percentages.

Intrinsic motivation plays a central role in this approach. By fostering a deep connection to what they are learning, we encourage children to find joy and satisfaction in the process itself rather than just external rewards. This is enhanced through exploration of their passions and interests, helping each child discover what excites them and drives their curiosity. When children are motivated by their own passions, they develop a lifelong love for learning that extends beyond the classroom and into all areas of their lives. This personal investment not only boosts their confidence but also reinforces the value of perseverance, self-direction, and intrinsic success.

The curriculum at Trinity Oaks C of E Primary school is to not only develop academic skills and knowledge, but to improve children’s life chances and equip them for the wider world through developing self-worth, kindness and compassion, respect, and integrity. This is underpinned by high expectations for behaviour and a focus on developing relationships between self, others and curriculum.

Children come to school feeling a sense of pride for their school as a community and are enthusiastic towards the many opportunities that are available to them, both in and outside of the classroom.
