Christian Distinctiveness

The school’s founding aim was to provide the highest possible quality of education, supported by a caring Christian ethos for the children in the Horley area.

The school’s vision, which is linked to the Church of England vision for education of being ‘Deeply Christian, serving the common good ’ reflects robust expectations for both Christian distinctiveness and academic achievement. The school values are lived in all aspects of school life providing a strong reference point for all relationships and is shared by the whole community. Being ‘rooted in love’ encourages both adults and children alike to use restorative approaches when overcoming difficulties and challenges: resulting in a cohesive community where everyone feels safe, valued and heard.

All staff who are employed to work at Trinity Oaks are in sympathy with the Christian values and ethos, modelling the Christian values, and are respectful of those values and teachings. As a school we ensure that our diverse community is supported and valued whilst ensuring that our Christian distinctiveness is threaded through and based on Christian values.

Our Christian distinctiveness is further embedded in the organisation of our classes. Class names are linked to Bible stories and trees from the Bible. EYFS classes and Key Stage 1 are fruit trees, moving to year 3 willow as the children begin branching out and onto hardier trees in Key Stage 2 as our children prepare to move on to secondary education.

Pre-school – Acorns (Matthew 13:7)

Reception – Apple (Psalm 17:8)

Year 1 – Fig (Micah 4:4)

Year 2 - Olive (Psalm 52:8)

Year 3 – Willow (Isaiah 44:4)

Year 4 – Cedar (Psalm 104:16)

Year 5 – Palm (John 12:13)

Year 6 – Oak (Isaiah 61:3)

Our Christian distinctiveness is threaded through all that we do – our identity is individual to us.

We live out this distinctiveness through:

  • School values
